Bray Accepts Offer to Run for Lieutenant Governor

APRIL 26, 2024 (RALEIGH) – The Libertarian Party of North Carolina (LPNC) today announces a significant change in its candidate lineup for the upcoming Lieutenant Governor race. Dee Watson, the previously endorsed candidate, has withdrawn from the race.

In response to this development, the LPNC is proud to introduce Shannon Bray as its new candidate for Lieutenant Governor. Bray, who secured the second-place position in the March gubernatorial primary, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the principles of liberty and individual freedom. He has previously run for office as a Libertarian, including for the U.S. Senate in the most recent federal election cycle, when he received over 171,000 votes.

"Shannon's commitment to the values of the Libertarian Party and his proven track record make him an ideal candidate to represent the LPNC in the Lieutenant Governor's race," stated Watson, who also serves as the LPNC Political and Policy Director. "We are confident that Shannon will effectively articulate our Liberty message and offer voters a compelling choice in this election. I am confident handing the baton off to him in this election.”

“I was already committed to campaigning for Mike in the Fall,” stated Bray. “So when this situation came about and Dee asked me to step up, the decision was a no-brainer.”

The Libertarian Party of North Carolina looks forward to supporting Shannon Bray as he campaigns for the Lieutenant Governor's office and continues to champion the principles of limited government, personal responsibility, and free-market solutions. We are excited about this race and all the excellent candidates we have running this year.
