MARCH 6, 2024 (RALEIGH) – The Libertarian Party of North Carolina (LPNC) would like to congratulate the winners of the 2024 North Carolina Libertarian primary races. Chase Oliver won the preference vote for the nominee for president of the United States and Mike Ross won the vote to be the Libertarian candidate for NC governor.
"We are proud of all of our candidates, regardless of outcome," said Ryan Brown, LPNC chair. "We had an amazing governor race that spanned nearly two years. We had three debates, including the big one with three other parties. We had tons of events around the state. And we saw such an effective spreading of the Libertarian message. With candidates like Shannon [Bray, governor candidate] and Mike, and a total of ten presidential candidates including Chase, we knew we'd have competitive and exciting primaries. All of our candidates delivered."
LPNC Secretary and Political & Policy Director Dee Watson agreed, "No other party had the number of options we did at president. In fact, the Democrats, who have made calls for 'preserving our democracy' a cornerstone of their messaging, arbitrarily kept competition out of their primary. We remain the only choice for a rational voter. But this is just the first step. we intend to help all of our candidates run aggressive, competitive races. Don't be surprised to see Libertarians elected to office in North Carolina come November.”
Bray participated in a joint virtual Zoom election watch party last night along with Ross, staffers from both gubernatorial campaigns, and several state party officials. “Congratulations to Mike, who ran a great campaign,” stated Bray. “I look forward to supporting his campaign this Fall.”
Overall the LPNC has 44 candidates running for state or federal level office in 2024.
